Did you know, Members, that there is an International Commission on Illumination based in Vienna with an American president named Yoshihiro Ohno? Sure, it’s the authority on things like whether something is blue-green or teal, but it’s also a think tank for things like photobiology and luminous efficiency. And Ohno is a patent-rich inventor, who not only has invented real things that improve imaging systems, but has offered up methods for producing the most satisfying soft candy that will not stick to your teeth. Point is, things like illumination deserve a commission and presidency that befits such a high human function and it could certainly be said that presidents should preside and cultivate those philosophical expanses that create us creatures known as human. Here’s hoping this week provides both enlightenment and leadership of a broad spectrum.
