Did you know, Members, that the Dire Wolf is the largest species of the genus Canis known to have existed? They were incredibly robust animals with jaws set up by evolution to gnaw quite successfully on large, flailing prey. They also are quite extinct. You can go to La Brea Pits and see a wall containing over 400 Dire Wolf skulls recovered from the depths of the tar. Why so successful yet so nonexistent today? Well, that’s like asking why alcoholics drink: it’s because they drink. And the Dire Wolf is not longer around because what it ate is no longer around. So this week members, throw whatever cycles you are in for a loop and exit stage left for a bit. After all, without prey, a predator is just a skull on the wall.
