Today, you are a member of… Death and Taxes

ejsmithvonnegutThere are several myths about the last words heard on April 15, 1912 from E.J. Smith, the captian of the RMS Titanic. There’s the commanding, “Be British boys! Be British!”; there’s also reports of pragmatism: “Every man for himself!”; and there are claims of the stout-hearted, “Good-Bye Boys, I’m going to follow the ship!”. This, the week starting with Tax Day and the anniversary of how wireless sank a great big ship, may evolve into something, well, taxing, members. Whatever the audit or iceberg, be sure to respond with with the mythic range and punctuation of Cap’n Smith.

Kurt Vonnegut, Member.
November 11, 1922 – April 11, 2007

At least we had him for 84 years. And he gave us the mighty response to such minutia as death and taxes:
Why not take a flying fuck at a rolling donut?
and
When asked what he thought about that he replied, “I had to laugh like hell.”
