Today, you are a member of… Opus Caementicium

The air is like cement, members – a Roman invention. And this week, the second of January – another Roman invention – you’ll need gladiatorial knowledge of all that is solid and all that is aerial to invent your own doors. Sure the paradixical pull between antiquity and the shiny shiny new new may feel schizo but if you remember that the Romans built the aquaducts only after knowing to mix solid rubble with pozzolona, a volcanic dust thrown through the air prior to its earthly deposit, this week’s Janus-faced demands will not only feel acrobatic but like one hell of a mother of invention.
