There are plenty of theories about stupidity out there, Members. From Herbert Simon’s bounded rationality to Erasmus’ In Praise of Folly to Carlo Maria Cipolla’s Five Basic Laws of Human Stupidity.However, all seem to come from a perspective that considers its author as distinctly not stupid. So the question is: if one is stupid in a stupid universe, is one really stupid? If stupid is as stupid does, what happens when stupid is stupid like a fox? How stupid are rocks? Regardless, if, this week, the mentally ill tell you that thinking about such things is stupid, tell them firmly: Governing authorities and their public bodies don’t exist. And anyhow, they’re stupid.
